Aquatic Centre tender process
As a Council we are excited to be progressing with the tender process for construction of our new Aquatic Centre. This began with an expression of interest, where we received applications from interested companies.
We will now issue tender documentation to five companies for responses; being ADCO Constructions, Haslin Construction, Zauner Construction, Icon SI and Lahey Constructions.
Value engineering workshops will be conducted in October, and it is expected a report following the outcome of the request for tender process will be presented to Council in December 2019 where we will be able to make the final decision on the construction tender.
Marulan Kite Festival
If you are free this Sunday I’d encourage you to jump in the car and head out to the Marulan Kite Festival, celebrating all things kites and the theme ‘Time Flies.’
The day runs from 9am until 3pm and includes parachute racing, competitions, a car and bike show, market stalls and of course plenty of kite flying. The festival is held in Tony Onions Park in George Street, Marulan, and is a celebration of the spring equinox. Hope to see you there!
Sloane Street Underpass
At Tuesday night’s Council meeting we also resolved to install vehicle activated height warning sights on the approach to the Sloane Street rail underpass at a cost of $28,000. Hopefully these warning signs will once and for all stop drivers of caravans and pantec trucks doing damage to their vehicle at this underpass!
Goulburn Community Bike Ride
Community members are once again being encouraged to join the Goulburn Community 5km Bike Ride, to be held Monday 7th October at Carr Confoy in Eastgrove.
This year’s event will be held on the Monday of the October long weekend, to hopefully enable families who may travel away for the weekend to plan to be involved in the bike ride.
The community bike ride is a relaxed, family friendly event that I’d encourage everyone to get involved in. The ride is held in the beautiful weather of spring, and finishes with a free BBQ lunch and drink – who doesn’t like a free lunch!
Registration, bike and helmet safety checks begin from 9:30am, with the 5km escorted family ride kicking off at 10am. We ask for a gold coin donation for the ride, and all participants will receive a bike repair kit and bells for their bike.
