ANZAC Day Commemorations
I am pleased to say ANZAC Day commemorations will go ahead this year around the region, under some restrictions due to COVID-19.
In Goulburn, both the dawn and mid-morning services are being held in Belmore Park. The march along Auburn Street will go ahead, but will only be for veterans, with around sixty vets from various campaigns participating.
There will be various services run throughout the Goulburn Mulwaree region to ensure that all members of the community will be able to take part in the commemorations and are as follows:
Goulburn Services - Dawn Service – 5.30am/March - 11am/Official Service – 11.30am
Bungonia – Official Service – 10am at the Bungonia War Memorial
Tallong – Official Service – 10am at the Tallong War Memorial
Tarago – Dawn Service – 6am at the Tarago War Memorial
Marulan – Dawn Service – 6am/Official Service at 11am in front of the Terminus Hotel at the Marulan and District War Memorial Obelisk.
The perfect mother’s day gift
Mother’s Day is just over two weeks away, and it’s time to start looking for the perfect gift for your mum. This year the job is going to be much easier, as Council and the Chamber of Commerce have combined efforts to come up with a great solution.
Next week the Shop 2580 gift cards will be launched – an amazing collaboration encouraging our community to spend money at businesses that are locally owned and operated. Over thirty businesses have already jumped on board the program as stores where gift cards can be redeemed, which is perfect timing in the lead up to Mother’s Day on Sunday May 9th.
You can purchase a gift card at four locations at the moment, with more to come on board in the coming weeks – these are:
There is still time for other businesses who would like to be involved to sign up to be a redemption store, and we will continue to take new businesses throughout the year. For Chamber of Commerce members the program is free to be involved in, and for those who are not members there is just a $120 annual fee.
The same program operates in around 50 different regional communities with great success. Over 120,000 cards have been sold, and over $10 million loaded onto cards in ten years – which is all money that is spent in locally owned businesses.

Structure takes shape at Aquatic Centre
Installation of structural steel and timber purlins is underway at the Goulburn Aquatic & Leisure Centre, with the administration building beginning to take shape.
Alongside this work, watertightness testing is underway in the 25 metre indoor pool, after being successfully completed for the hydrotherapy pool.
We continue to tick off important milestones regularly at the Goulburn Aquatic Centre redevelopment, and I’m sure residents would be excited to drive past and see the impressive structure now towering over our project fence.
Over the coming weeks formwork and reinforcement steel will be completed for the program pool (learn to swim) with this expected to be poured by the end of the month.
Work on the internal pool deck and splash pad is next on the list, with this also expected to be completed in the next three weeks. Council is now approaching one year since demolition of the indoor pool began in July 2020, with the project still on track for completion in early 2022.
$29 million has been allocated by Council for the project, which is inclusive of a generous $10m grant gained through the NSW Government. FDC Construction are undertaking the project, and have extensive experience building within the Aquatic Centre industry.
