Friendship City – Quelicai, Timor Leste

As many readers may remember, in October 2018 Goulburn Mulwaree Council signed a Friendship City Agreement with Quelicai, Timor Leste. The idea first came about when Maggie and Darryl Patterson approached Council with the idea, after beginning a charitable status organisation to support vulnerable women and children in Timor Leste.

The formal relationship is between the Sub-District of Quelicai, Municipality of Baucau and the Citizens of Goulburn Mulwaree Council. The two areas agreed to work together to recognise and promote the rights of people in both areas to manage their own affairs and destiny.

Quelicai has recently been struck with significant damage due to flood and landslides. Once again Maggie, Darryl and friends involved in this charity are stepping up to support the Quelicai community; if you would like to contribute you can do so at:

  • Acc Name: Goulburn-Quelicai Friendship
  • BSB: 112 879
  • Acc Number: 446 082 231

Next week’s council meeting

The business paper for next week’s council meeting is available to view online now, and as always the community is welcome to come along to attend at 6pm on Tuesday 1st June. Items up for determination will include:

More information will be shared regarding this over the coming weeks.

Compost available now

A reminder that we have a high quality organic compost product available for purchase at the Goulburn Waste Management Centre at a very competitive price of just $20 per metre cubed.

Australian Liveability census

More parks or more parking? More public art, or greener streets? Dog parks or kids playgrounds? Have your say on the future of Goulburn Mulwaree, for the chance to win a $100 shopping voucher.

The largest social research project in Australian history, the 2021 Australian Liveability Census, is underway now – and Goulburn Mulwaree Council is encouraging residents to have a say.
