Visit the new Rocky Hill War Memorial Museum
The recently completed Rocky Hill War Memorial Museum has finally been opened to the public, following the COVID-19 restrictions that were implemented in March this year.
The doors were opened on Monday 1st June for the first time, with visitors to the museum including residents of Sydney, Junee and Canberra. Council is encouraging local residents to also make the effort to view this spectacular new facility, and the first exhibition which is titled ‘Objects of National Significance: When war trophies came to Goulburn.’
The new museum is an amazing feat of modern architecture, which has doubled our exhibition space and provided a large open area for programs and events. It is now open to the public, and I encourage the community to make the trip up Rocky Hill to visit. There are some restrictions on the numbers allowed in at each time, and social distancing must of course be maintained.
$1.25m was received from the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund for construction, with this being matched with $1.25m of funding from Goulburn Mulwaree Council.
Heritage and CBD grants on offer
Owners and managers of heritage buildings are invited to apply for the latest round of Goulburn Mulwaree Council’s successful Heritage & CBD Grants programs.
Two streams of grants are available for 2020/2021;

The grants are an important means of encouraging the conservation of our local heritage and improving the appearance of commercial buildings located in Goulburn’s CBD. - A planning proposal and DCP amendment for Lansdowne Street was deferred
- We will place the Draft Local Strategic Planning Statement on public exhibition
Results of the meeting are summarised in the council meeting briefs on our website, and as always the minutes of the meeting are also able to be viewed there.
