BMX Track to be revamped
The Goulburn BMX Track is in line for a revamp, as part of Goulburn Mulwaree Council’s draft budget for the 2022/23 financial year.
Based in Avoca Street, Goulburn BMX Track is alongside the Goulburn PCYC, and alongside the popular Wollondilly River Walkway. BMX and bicycle riders in our region both young and old will be pleased to hear that Council is looking to include this funding to upgrade the BMX track in the next financial year.
Over the past few years we have received many requests for improvements at the track, and I’m pleased that this will now occur as one of the first initiatives of the newly elected Council.
Council will be considering this project along with numerous other capital works as part of the 2022/23 Draft Budget and Operational Plan. This document is currently being workshopped by Councillors, and is expected to go to a Council meeting within the coming month, before being place on public exhibition.
Creeping closer to Aquatic Centre opening
The new Council had the opportunity to tour the Aquatic Centre Redevelopment prior to a meeting in late February and it is truly an amazing facility.
Our new indoor pool hall houses an 8 lane 25 metre pool, program pool for learn to swim, water play area for young children and a fantastic hydrotherapy pool complete with a lift for people with a disability. We also have new change rooms and facilities, a wonderful café which opens out onto Victoria Park, and a brand new, much larger gym area.
As you will see when you drive along Deccan Street, fencing is starting to be removed, and the final exterior elements of the project such as the car park are being completed. Inside they are even beginning to fill pools, so the opening date is not far away.
Keep an eye out for further information in the coming weeks, as we expect to announce an opening date and some excellent events to celebrate this.
Steampunk Victoriana Fair
It is wonderful to have our events calendar ramping up again, and there is so much to see and do in Goulburn Mulwaree during the autumn period.
I am particularly looking forward to the return of Steampunk Victoriana Fair at the Goulburn Historic Waterworks, across the 12th and 13th of March.
Steampunk mixes the industrial age with futuristic imaginations or how the future might have been imagined in the past. So, come along to revel in the unique facility and its history, and envisage the old-world technology put to use in the future at the Steampunk and Victoriana Fair.
The Fair will see an influx of splendid looking characters wandering the grounds – complementing the Goulburn Historic Waterworks architecture and aesthetic – where you can tour the building and the engines it houses. Tour Guides will be on hand to answer your questions.
