Performing Arts Centre progress
While much of the country is working under very different circumstances, it’s great to see that construction of the Performing Arts Centre at the Old Town Hall in Auburn Street is progressing with no major speed bumps.
At our council meeting on Tuesday night we received a status report on this project, which is well underway. Zauner Constructions did have some delays during February due to the beautiful rain we have received, however they are well into the excavation and sub-structure works, laying the foundations for this brilliant facility.
Throughout this month their focus is on the foundation screw piles, basement structural concrete and also building the pad for the tower crane that will be on site – we will soon have two cranes in the skyline of Goulburn! In the coming months we will see the building begin to take shape, with structural works expected to take around five months.
Zauner will be submitting a revised construction program later this month that will take into account the impact of rain delays, but overall this will only cause minor delays for the project. Keep an eye out for the crane in Auburn Street in the near future!
Pejar Dam
Prior to our meeting on Tuesday night Councillors reconsidered the decision to close Pejar Dam to the public for all recreation, including fishing, which was made last Friday.
Councillors have decided to reopen Pejar Dam for recreation and fishing, but want to urge people from outside our region not to travel to Pejar Dam. We realise that recreational fishing is permitted by the NSW Government, however want to stress that this is not an invitation for people to do this en masse.
Please ensure you follow all social distancing rules, and do not gather in groups of more than two people.
COVID-19: Council Update
I’m pleased to only be providing a short, very positive update on COVID-19 in our region this week! As of 10:30am on Tuesday we had 10 cases of the Coronavirus within the region, following 352 tests. There has not been a new case in a week which is fantastic, and shows that our community is doing a great job in following the guidelines and restrictions to minimise the impacts of coronavirus.
Let’s keep up the good work!
Night works in Bourke Street
Contractors working on behalf of Goulburn Mulwaree Council will be undertaking night works at the Bourke Street School crossing beginning this Friday 10th April and continuing until the 26th of April between 7pm and 5am.
Bourke Street between Goldsmith and Clifford Street will be closed off from traffic within these hours – traffic control measures and detours will be in place during this time.
