On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, the newly elected Goulburn Mulwaree Council officially took their oaths or affirmations of office. The fresh team of Councillors—Nina Dillon, Caitlin Flint, Bob Kirk, Liz McKeon, Christopher O’Mahony, Michael Prevedello, Jason Shepherd, Keith Smith, and Daniel Strickland—were sworn in.

In a lively election for Mayor, Councillors Nina Dillon, Bob Kirk, and Liz McKeon each received three votes, resulting in a tie. A ballot draw led to Cr. Kirk's elimination, and in the subsequent vote, Cr. Nina Dillon was elected as Mayor for the first time, receiving six votes compared to Liz McKeon’s three.

Councillor Caitlin Flint also made her mark by being elected as Deputy Mayor, earning five votes against Councillor Christopher O’Mahony’s one and Daniel Strickland’s three.

Notably, this is the first time since the early 1990s that Goulburn has had both a female Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

Mayor Nina Dillon expresses her heartfelt gratitude to her fellow Councillors, supporters, and local residents for their well wishes regarding her appointment as Mayor of Goulburn Mulwaree Council.

“I am eager to lead the Council for the next two years, making decisions that advocate for all residents while establishing genuine consultation to involve the community in strategic direction and major decisions. I would like to congratulate Caitlin Flint on her appointment as Deputy Mayor, and I am excited to work closely with her.”

“I look forward to collaborating with local business and community leaders to advance the region, seeking additional funding and support at both State and Federal levels. I am committed to fostering a productive and transparent Council to achieve the best outcomes for the community.” Said Mayor Dillon.

Goulburn Mulwaree Council looks forward to collaborating with the new Council over the next four years and is eager to work together to serve the community. The next Council Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 6 PM.
