Nominations are now open for the 2nd round of funding for 2019/20 financial year through the Ray Harvey Sports Foundation.

The foundation is named after the late Ray Harvey, who contributed immensely to sport and community activities throughout the Goulburn community. Goulburn Mulwaree Council is the trustee of the foundation, which was established to assist promising young sports persons to obtain coaching and competitive experience outside the Goulburn Mulwaree region.

Young athletes are encouraged to apply for assistance, with priority for funding given to participation in coaching clinics, organised competitions or carnivals outside the LGA. Representatives of Australia in a recognised sport are also prioritised.

The application period is now open, with these due to be received by 5pm Friday 20th March 2020. Grant recipients will be notified and presented at a Council meeting likely to be held in April or June 2020. Recipients are also expected to report back to the Ray Harvey Sports Foundation with the results of their sporting endeavours.

Thirteen local junior athletes received funding under the first round of the grants for the financial year in November 2019. A total of $2950 was distributed to athletes participating in eight different sports, including rugby union, equestrian, hockey, taekwondo and more.

Application forms are available on Council’s website or at the Civic Centre in Bourke Street, Goulburn. All enquiries and applications are to be addressed to Kayleen Pagett, Community Facilities Administration Officer on 4823 4538. Applications can also be emailed to council@goulburn.nsw.gov.au
