Outdoor Pool to open September 15th

While demolition is underway on the indoor pool hall at the Goulburn Aquatic & Leisure Centre, staff are busily working to prepare the outdoor pool for the summer season.
Goulburn Mulwaree Council will open the Outdoor Pool on September 15th, to accommodate swimmers who are eagerly awaiting the chance to get back in the water.
Mayor Bob Kirk said he is pleased to see the outdoor pool opening for those who have been missing their regular swimming.
“It is an exciting time at our Aquatic Centre with fencing up and work well underway on the demolition portion of the project. It was important to Council that we still offered an opportunity to swimmers as soon as possible, and I am sure our swim squads and learn to swim programs will be quickly filled up as well.”
“Staff have taken the opportunity during the winter closure to undertake some work on the outdoor pool including painting of the pool deck, and a significant lighting upgrade which is due to be completed by the end of August.”
“The upgrading of the outdoor boilers towards the end of the last summer season will ensure patrons enjoy a more consistent and warmer temperature.”
Entrance to the Aquatic Centre will now be done through the northern side of the Deccan Street car park, adjacent to the outdoor pool. Temporary office facilities have been put in place, and the outdoor change rooms and showers are still able to be utilised.
Demolition of the indoor pool is expected to be completed by late September, with earthworks and site works for the new indoor pool hall to continue until late December this year. FDC Contracting are undertaking construction of the new Goulburn Aquatic & Leisure Centre.
