Roadworks complete in Windellama area

$1.5 million worth of roadworks have been completed on the Sandy Point Road and Oallen Ford Roads.

$945,515 for the project came through the NSW Government Black Spot Program, to realign a curve on Sandy Point Road near the Miller Road intersection, while a further $213,475 was gained through the Federal Government Roads to Recovery Program.

The money funded significant resealing, pavement widening, guard rails and the realignment of curves on the two roads, with Council tipping in $325,000 to the pot for the project.

Mayor Bob Kirk welcomed the completion of the work in late August. “These huge improvements have been welcomed by residents of Windellama and Oallen. The roads are also important links from Tarago or Goulburn through to Nerriga and then often onto the coast, so are well utilised by travellers.”

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor welcomed the works. “The condition of local roads is the number one issue raised with me, so it’s great to see these upgrades completed. The improvements to Oallen and Sandy Point Roads will make it easier and safer for residents and visitors travelling these roads,” Mr Taylor said.

State Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman said she was delighted to see the NSW Safer Roads Program delivering improvements to the high-risk road.

“Oallen Ford Road is already a significant tourist route that can get pretty busy during peak travel times. The widening, resurfacing and curve realignment are welcome enhancements for a well-used road especially by people towing caravans or boats making their way down the coast.

The project was undertaken by Divalls Earthmoving and Bulk Haulage and was completed on time and on budget.
