Goulburn’s iconic Victoria Park is a safer space for all, after recent completion of a significant CCTV project which has seen 21 cameras installed.

The crime deterring project was funded through round 3 the Federal Government’s Safer Communities, which saw $180,000 allocated to Victoria Park.

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said improving safety in our streets and community is a major priority.

“The best way to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour is to prevent it from happening, so it’s fantastic to have these new additions to Victoria Park to improve safety and reduce crime in the community.”

Mayor Bob Kirk said he was very impressed with the end result, particularly solar lighting that makes the space more usable in early or late hours.

“Solar lighting along with CCTV makes areas like the Adventure Playground a safer space for all. We had some graffiti and vandalism issues in Victoria Park last year, and this will go a long way to deterring this behaviour.”

Goulburn Mulwaree Council continues to invest in Victoria Park, with work on the Aquatic Centre redevelopment due to start this year. During the 2017-2021 Delivery Program Council has completed the Adventure Playground, Seiffert Oval Pavilion, Skate Park extension and began the Japanese Gardens, all in the Victoria Park Health & Wellbeing precinct.
