School captains recognised at Mayoral Reception
Published on 28 November 2019
The contribution of captains and vice-captains to their schools and the community was recognised on Wednesday at a Mayoral Reception held at the Grace-Millsom Centre.
Outgoing captains and vice-captains of Primary Schools, and incoming captains and vice captains from High Schools were all included in the ceremony. Principals of the schools along with parents also attended the reception.
Mayor Bob Kirk said the reception held each year was a nice opportunity to recognise the young leaders within our community.
“Taking on a leadership role within these schools is no small feat, and the reception provides a chance for us as Council to connect with our schools.
“It’s great to see the young leaders in our community are doing such a good job, and I am confident our future is in safe hands!”
Cr Carol James also promoted the Ignite Youth Forum following the presentations. This forum will be held tomorrow night (Friday 29th November) in the Council Chambers from 6:30pm and will feature Mayor Bob Kirk and General Manager Warwick Bennett as guest speakers able to answer questions from our youth.
