Skate Park extension complete and open

The extension of the Goulburn Skate Park in Victoria Park has been completed, with landscaping undertaken and the park now open to the skating public.
The project was undertaken by Trinity Skateparks, who have included a number of rails, smaller half pipes and street features within the extension.
Work was funded by the NSW Government through a grant application to the NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund, in which Victoria Park was awarded $896,000. $20,686 was also sourced through the NSW Government Community Building Partnership fund specifically for the skate park.
Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman was delighted that the NSW Government was able to contribute to the project.
“The Stronger Country Communities Funding program aims to make our region a better place to live and raise a family - the Community Building Partnership Grant Funding aims to create more vibrant and inclusive communities. The skate park extension has really ticked all the boxes, I’m so pleased to see projects like this being built in Goulburn.
“It’s fantastic that the community was able to contribute their opinions and ideas on what was needed. The extension has really expanded the offering for the skate park, allowing learners to participate,” Mrs Tuckerman said.
“It has been a great project, professionally run by Trinity Skateparks and Council staff, and we have a brilliant new section of the skate park as a result” said Mayor Bob Kirk.
“For parents and families a real highlight is the new shade shelters and seating, along with the landscaping works that make it a much more pleasant space to be. I dropped in late last week and there were many busy kids of all ages giving it a workout – it was wonderful to see them enjoying the park and getting outside on a nice winter’s day.”
Consultation on the design of the extension was undertaken in the late months of 2018, with the process highlighting the need for a combination of bowl and street style features that cater to beginners, and park amenity needs such as shade and water refill stations.
An official opening party for the new Skate Park, the Rage Cage and Seiffert Oval Pavilion is tentatively scheduled for Saturday 21st September.
Totem Skateboarding will be hosting workshops in the afternoon on this day, with a beginner’s workshop at 12 noon, an intermediate workshop at 1pm followed by a skate jam in the afternoon from 2pm. The Totem Skateboarding workshops and jam comp are being delivered by the Goulburn Mulwaree Youth Council.
