Stage one of Spectacular Riverside Park completed

Goulburn Mulwaree Council has completed stage one of the Riverside Park project in Marys Mount, with final installations being finished off in July.

The $2.3 million project included huge sections of footpath, three footbridge constructions, outdoor gym equipment, solar lighting, dog off-leash areas and tree planting and landscaping. The NSW Government contributed $821,384 to the community space through the Stronger Country Communities Fund.

Mayor Bob Kirk was pleased to see the transformation of the area when visiting last Friday.

“It is a huge space, with footpaths that are full of people walking with dogs, cycling with their kids or just enjoying the fresh air.

“This was a critical green space for this growing suburb within our city and I’m so pleased we’ve now completed stage one. It’s also great to see the use of solar lighting which means the area can be used safely at earlier or later times.”

Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman congratulated Goulburn Mulwaree Council on their strong planning focus.

“By creating beautiful, open, community spaces like Riverside Park and offsetting the many new residential developments the council is ensuring Goulburn maintains the regional ambiance that we live here for.

“COVID-19 crisis had highlighted the importance of open spaces to our community’s health and wellbeing, Riverside Park has created a terrific space for individuals, families and children to enjoy.

Over 10 kilometres of river walkway footpaths have been completed over the past four years, with plans in place to construct another 8.5km worth to link with Eastgrove over the coming financial years.

In addition $200,000 has been awarded from the NSW Government’s Everyone Can Play grant to assist Goulburn Mulwaree Council to help deliver a new playground at Riverside Park, which will include a water play creek, shade, climbing structures and inclusive access ramps.
