Tree removed in Belmore Park following storms
Published on 26 April 2022
Following significant storms and high winds last Tuesday, Council has made the decision to remove a maple tree in Belmore Park.
Located on the Market Street side of the park, the ten year old tree was significantly damaged during the evening, with the wind snapping off a leading branch which meant it would not retain a good shape.
The reaming support section of the trunk has been damaged and reduced in thickness, due to the true leader branch breaking off.
Council does not take the decision to remove a significant tree like this lightly, but due to the damage decided it was necessary to do so. It will be replaced in the coming months with a mature tree.
