Tribe Breweries exceed local employment quota

Tribe Breweries will receive a 50% discount on their developer charges for 2019/20 water and sewer, after exceeding the local employment requirements put in place by Council in 2018.

The brewery, who employ 46 full time and 5 part time employees, will be charged $1,793,375 for Section 64 developer charges based on their water and sewer usage during the 19/20 financial year. Council required them to achieve at least 10 full time new jobs, which they have exceeded comfortably.

Mayor Bob Kirk said this was a brilliant result for the region, and showed the value in Council supporting larger businesses where possible.

“Applying a discount to developer charges is not a decision Council takes lightly, which is why we insisted on the employment condition to show how Tribe Breweries has positively impacted our community and economy.”

Tribe Breweries during the last financial year used 99 mega litres of water and 59 mega litres of sewer. The Equivalent Tenements (ET’s) based on this usage is 430 for water and 422 for sewer.
